If you lose a battle you just get teleported back to town, and if you don't find a bathroom in time your Digimon will just leave perfect purple poos on the ground and move on with their lives. There isn't a clear cause and effect in the game in general, which really damages any sense of progression or consequence. You upgrade your Digimon at the Training Centre in town, and it's really just a matter of spinning the wheel and watching the numbers tick up. It's terribly confusing!Īnd the whole training system is pretty uninspired. And that means that there's more bonus icons in the training spinwheel. Eventually I happened to notice these small icons, which means the bonus applies when you train that skill. For example, I didn't understand how the bonuses in training worked. And for a game that seems to explain things in excruciating detail early on, there is a lot they don't cover. No it isn't! It's working smart, not hard! Yeah, me too! But I did try to train my Digimon to be so powerful that I'd pretty much autowin fights so that didn't really matter anyway. However, I'd usually find that I'd either win or lose the fight before I even had the chance to get enough Order Power to do anything! You need to gather enough Order Power, by yelling support at your Digimon, in order to do special moves. During your first battle it takes you step-by-step through the battle system. And the combat system is highly confusing, and not very fun. It's a lot to take in, isn't it? And you're really thrown in the deep end within the first few minutes.Ībsolutely. The story begins when you activate your old Digivice, and get pulled into a battle with the dreaded Machinedramon! After defeating him, your Digimon are reborn, and you must train them up, rebuild the town of Floatia, and figure out what's gone wrong in the digital world! All before you can go back home. Following in the footsteps of past Digimon World games, Next Order is an open world role playing game that gives you not one, but two Digimon partners to level up and do battle with!
